A Note from Pastor Patrick Blackmon:
Hello Church family, a couple of months ago I preached a sermon titled “Fighting My Battles” out of 2 Chronicles 20. King Jehoshaphat had just heard the devastating news that his kingdom was under attack, and surrounded by fierce enemies. King Jehoshaphat was afraid. What did he do? He sought the Lord and proclaimed a fast among his people. What happened next is the people of Judah fought their battle by praising the Lord. They stopped focusing on the situation they couldn’t handle and determined to praise God who could and would handle it. Psalm 16:8 says, “I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right
hand, I will not be shaken.” (NIV)
When we keep our eyes focused on the Lord, He is always with us.
With the Lord by our side, we will not be shaken. Why? Because we have the assurance that He is with us in all situations. Satan knows that if we take our eyes off the
things of the Lord, then our eyes will be focused on what he has distracted us to see. When we focus our eyes and think of Him, we have peace. We have joy. We will not be
shaken. My prayer for us is that we will continually focus on the Lord, and not be distracted even in the midst of the ups and downs in this journey. As we keep our eyes on the Lord this coming month we plan to slowly start kicking off some of our normal activities.
For one, this month we will be collecting our Janie Chapman offering. Our goal is $1,600. This offering is for our state missions and advancing the Kingdom in South Carolina. I ask you to prayerfully consider giving towards this goal and that we will achieve it.
Also, we are tentatively planning on having Sunday School, Women’s Ministry, JAM, and other ministries starting this month as well. Our plan for SS is to offer a few classes as we did before.
We will also be voting on the nominating committee’s and deacons this month. As we continue this journey, let’s continue to pray for our local body, but most
importantly keep our eyes on the Lord.
Love each of you,
Pastor Patrick
